Pistol Corner of January 31, 2012

The Australian Open 2012 campaign was for the Scheck Pro Base the first important highlight and test at the tournaments. I think that we are not exaggerate to mention that we did a great job.

First of all I would like to say congratulations to Lars Uebel who is now at an amazing level of coaching and every day I shared with him at the tournaments he was very productive and motivated.

Peter Gojowczyk qualified at the Australian Open – a “Grand Slam” , a tournament at the highest level possible in the world, loosing only 9 games in 3 matches at the Qualies. It was really a scarry amazing result and the match he lost against Donald Young, number 40 in the world, in 5 sets does not change this great success of Gojo at all.

With Daniela Hantuchova as well the news coming from Australia where really positive. The first of January in Brisbane she beat her country fellow Cibulkova , ranked in the top 20 , after loosing the first set and down 2 0 in the second. It was a good welcome for the new year to comeback and win in 3 sets and go all the way to the finals in Brisbane. Then in Sydney she beat 2 more top 20 players , by coincidence both from Italy, Vinci and Schiavone , and in Melbourne after 2 tough battles in the first two rounds she lost against Kim Clijsters with some chances in the first set.

We have now the challenge to go on this year, so we will see Daniela again in Munich at the Scheck Pro Base to practice and prepare for the tournaments, trying to hit again the top 10 in the world. I will be back soon at our Base with confidence and happiness to built more and more a good future for the Scheck Pro Base.
